Meet The Baker
I’m so glad you’re here! I’m a lifelong home baker. Nothing brings me more joy than creating delicious food for the people I love.
I started out in the research lab, but over time, piping tips replaced pipettes and I started to experiment with baked goods instead of petri dishes. It began with special occasions. A kitchen filled with the smell of fresh-baked cookies. Golden, buttery pie crust. That passion has grown into Tempest Baking Co., a small cottage bakery dedicated to sharing warmth and joy with you.

What’s a Cottage Bakery?
A cottage bakery is a small, home-based business where everything is made from scratch in the owner’s kitchen. It’s baking the way it used to be — personal, thoughtful, and crafted in small batches with care. As a Maryland cottage food business, I’m proud to bring you homemade treats made with quality ingredients.
All products are made by a cottage food business that is not subject to Maryland’s food safety regulations.
What’s Baking?
Every item is made to order, so you’ll always receive something fresh from the oven. There will be a rotating menu featuring an array of the baked goods listed below.

Petrichor Shortbreads
Vibrant matcha shortbread nestles into earthy black sesame shortbread…a pairing that evokes the quintessential smell of spring. Dipped in tangy ruby chocolate.

Toasty Pecan Shortbreads
Buttery, toasty, nutty shortbreads that are excellent with your morning caffeine, but are delicious no matter the time of day. Let’s be honest. You can’t eat just one of these cookies.

Spare Me the Sweet Talk Parmesan & Black Pepper
They’re short. They’re savory. They love a good charcuterie board. Buttery parmesan shortbreads with freshly cracked black pepper and herbs.

Some Like it Hot Triple Ginger
Three gingers. One chewy molasses cookie. Spicy goodness featuring fresh ginger, ground ginger, and candied ginger. 3″ cookie.

A Serious Chocolate Chip Cookie
The Tollhouse cookie grew up, did a semester abroad in France, and came home with a Belgian dark chocolate habit. 3.5 ounces of crispy on the edges but chewy in the middle indulgence topped with a sprinkle of Himalayan pink sea salt. 5″ cookie.
